Eat Out

OVERGAAUW RESTAURANT

-

BEST FOR Lazy summer lunches. FOOD The three-course set menu changes with the seasons, but expect simple country fare that tastes as if it's just been plucked from a veggie garden. You might kick off with a beetroot tart and fresh baby greens. Mains could be a perfectly medium-rare fillet of beef, served family-style with sautéed baby potatoes and a luscious Béarnaise sauce. Broccoli and a fresh salad finish the spread. For pud, the malva pudding is perfect. DRINKS Limited to Overgaauw wines. If you’re after a dry white, try the Sylvaner – Overgaauw is the only local producer working with this German grape from the Riesling family. SERVICE Relaxed and unobtrusive; perfectly suited to the wonderfully serene location. AMBIENCE Tables under a huge old oak look out over the garden towards mountains and rustic farmland. (KP)
