The nostalgic yet gourmet Kombuis Pre-Meal snacks include the Bo-Kaap Corner Shop, farmyard terrine and the homely fennel-seed ciabatta. After the local start, the menu hops to further flung corners of the continent with the perfect summer dish of charred carpenter fish with tomato, salsa water, cucumber, macadamia, coriander and charcoal oil. The beef fillet comes with leek fondant, celeriac purée and smoked celeriac. Roast chicken is served with a prawn, Brussels sprouts and Jamestown spinach. Overture’s orange soufflé with vanilla ice cream remains a sensory relish. The chocolate mousse with mulled pears and naartjie is also worthy of mention. DRINKS The wine list has options from the Stellenbos­ch region and beyond. SERVICE The waitstaff are charming and attentive.
