MBOMBELA - Steiltes Drankwinkel now, after its recent major revamp, has a brandnew look and feel.

It was rebranded as Tabooz Steiltes.

The store is part of the biggest liquor group in the country, Ultra Liquors.

Its doors were officially opened to the public last Wednesday, September 29, and a small group of guests was invited for the launch at the Steiltes Shopping Centre.

The rainy weather did not seem to dampen any spirits as people crowded around the entrance, chatting and enjoying plates of sushi and, of course, drinks of their choosing, courtesy of a small bar set up temporarily outside the store.

Opened by the Breytenbach family, who own Rooikat Liquors and who have been in the liquor business since 1998, the new store will offer a much wider range of premium gins, wines and other liquor at affordable prices.

Charl Breytenbach said the opening of Tabooz had been a long time coming and that the family was extremely excited for the future of the new shop. “The alcohol industry and landscape has changed dramatically over the years and we are so excited about this store. The range of stock will be bigger than what we had, thereby giving the market a much bigger choice,” he said.

“We have also ensured Tabooz will be more shopping-friendly. Our other store used to be quite narrow and had a tight space in which customers had to move around, but now there is more room for larger shopping carts to move.”

Breytenbach also introduced the store's manager, Simon Maleke, who had been with Rooikat since its inception in 1998.

“We are extremely privileged and proud to be able to open this store and we want to thank everyone who helped, such as the contractors, the interior designers and the the suppliers. We could not have done any of this without your help and support,” he said.
