With training as the main income, Covid-19 has created an economic hiccup which will possibly linger for quite a while yet. Charter income has dried up and safety training taken a pounding as the rest of the industry went into shutdown and then into shock. Without being an essential service provider, we have spent our time preparing for opening, but in quite a different manner than we ever could have imagined. The future has been abruptly pushed onto us and suddenly online training has become the way to go. To support this kind of training, proper researched, converted into audio visual video material, has become our focus. Charlie Marais has spent five years on the project already and as such our support base for training in remote locations had the advantage of an existing footprint. There will be three different kinds of electronic interaction, namely Online Digital Learning where certification is a requirement, training via a support platform such as Zoom live and then also support material that can be watched over and over again. When the quality is good and the research properly done, these productions will stand for many a year to come. The wheel has turned and now we will still reach for the stars, but many trees will survive our effort to be schooled for such purpose. Westline is making that possibility a reality.
