As if the physical aspect of becoming a cyclist wasn’t daunting enough, there’s a whole statute of unwritten rules and regulations that govern almost every aspect of life on (or near) your bike. Many have been covered by the Velominati, in their glorious reference work The Rules: The Way Of The Cycling Disciple; but even a dip into that venerable tome can be an exercise in humiliation, with in-jokes and inflexibility their only way.
