Jews need to bury Zionism
Just as the laws that gave rise to separate development, job reservation, Bantustans and the “dompas” solidified apartheid, the pillar that underpins Israel is Zionism, an ideology based on racist laws that discriminate against Palestinians.
This is a fact that Allan Wolman et al refuse to acknowledge (Middle East tunnel vision, February 8). They engage in a well-known tactic of obfuscation and deflection, raising instead a host of side issues and irrelevant trivialities.
The Zionist entity was created on stolen Palestinian land by killing and exiling millions of indigenous Muslims and Christians, demolishing their homes, imposing a strangulating siege to exterminate the survivors and bring in millions of East European Jews to take over Palestinian lands. This is the original sin.
Just as the whites embraced a nonracial SA, burying apartheid, Jews need to bury Zionism for peace to prevail in Palestine.
Israeli apartheid has overlooked the relationship between settler-colonialism and racial capitalism. It has focused on forms of legal discrimination against Palestinians, including the dual legal system in the occupied territories, the colonisation of Palestinian land and the system of identity documents and permits used to classify and control the movement of Palestinians.
