SA health officials on Ebola alert

The Department of Health is on high alert after the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo announced by the World Health Organisation two weeks ago, it said on Wednesday. While the risk of transmission to SA was low, the department urged doctors to be on the alert for cases of haemorrhagic fever among travellers returning from the region. So far, 37 suspected cases and four deaths have been reported in Congo.
