MPs suggest summoning Guptas
ANC MPs are losing patience with the Guptas’ influence in procurement — to the point that they are considering summoning them to Parliament.
This was proposed by ANC MP Zukile Luyenge during a meeting between the public enterprises committee and Denel on Thursday. The meeting was called to discuss progress Denel had made regarding disciplinary action against three of its former executives.
Committee members said they did not understand why a state-owned enterprise needed financially struggling “middlemen” to grow their businesses in the Middle East and in the arms procurement markets.
ANC MP Pravin Gordhan told acting chairman Daniel Mantsha that Denel had failed to demonstrate that it had not been captured by certain families.
