To hell with the Guptas

- Lazola Vabaza Pretoria

While reading an article written about how the Gupta family treated blacks during their famous wedding held at Sun City in May 2013, I became very angry. And a Gupta brother called one of their black security guards a monkey.

One is not surprised by this conduct of the Gupta family because to them, SA is just another jungle country in Africa.

They feed into the unfortunate narrative that Africans are born corrupt people and are prone to diseases, which was why they wouldn’t allow them to work at the spa at Sun City during their wedding jamboree.

Instead, white staff who left their jobs five years ago massaged their Indian guests.

This is the same family that called black ministers to their family compound in Saxonwold to tell them that they would be appointed to the Cabinet.

Why don’t they do the same with Minister Rob Davies or Deputy Minister Jeremy Cronin?

The Gupta family views blacks as lacking the agency and intellectual capacity to make decisions on their own, therefore they need to be told what to do. They assume that blacks can be bought through dirty money because they are used to living in dirt.

They came to SA with the assumption that blacks are so used to being dependent on handouts that if they capture one of them at the top, they will be praised as saviours. To hell with the Guptas!
