Datatec seals Indonesian deal

Global technology company Datatec has added Indonesian system integrator and services firm Packet Systems Indonesia (PSI) to its portfolio in a $6.8m deal that will further grow its presence in the Asia Pacific region.

Datatec’s subsidiary Logicalis and its Indonesian partner Metrodata, have agreed to acquire 54% and 14% shareholdings, respectively in PSI. Logicalis will pay $6.8m.

Established in 2004, PSI specialises in data centres and information security solutions, among other things.

Through this transaction, PSI would also bring its own portfolio of digital solutions and services to existing and new customers, said Datatec CEO Jens Montanana. “This acquisition is strategically important for Logicalis as it will serve to enhance its operations beyond Indonesia and across the Asia Pacific region. Blending Logicalis’ methodology and experience with PSI’s scale and customer reach will bring wider scale and customer relationships across a number of highgrowth regional markets.” The acquisition comes a week after Datatec sold subsidiary Westcon Americas to Synnex for $800m. Two weeks ago, Datatec’s other subsidiary, Analysys Mason, bought Norway-based Nexia Management Consulting. The value of the deal was not disclosed.

Analysys Mason is a telecoms consulting and research company. The acquisition “significantly strengthens Analysys Mason’s position in the Nordic region while adding valuable skills and expertise to its consulting division’’, Montanana said.

Nexia Management chairman Jan Morten Ruud said becoming a part of Analysys Mason was a major boost for the company and its clients who would have access to Analysys Mason’s global resources. “This will strengthen our ability to create value for customers and our market position.”
