ANC distorts own rules

-

The ANC has distorted itself into an unbelievable position. Talk about becoming a world laughing stock – “there are none so blind as those who will not see”.

The party’s rules and procedures were no doubt founded on the assumption that the ANC would remain sound and its intentions patriotic, and so were designed to keep it on course. Now, when that assumption can’t be sustained, its procedures are being used to object to the truth from the elders, long respected and ethical party stalwarts, Makhosi Khoza and anyone who knows they have to speak truth to power to cleanse the party of its major evils.

Its procedures cannot have been intended to prevent it being corrected when it is clearly on a wrong course. Doesn’t the ANC have a rule saying it and its leaders may not shaft the country? Despite the ANC having seriously deviated from its founding principles and the clarification by the Constitutional Court that MPs’ oath of office is to the country, not the party, the ANC again defied the Constitution by instructing its MPs how to vote.

Few can doubt that our president has abused his powers to sabotage the structure of the country and is implicitly involved in the theft of billions of rand in taxpayers money over a prolonged period, betraying all of us and his oath of office. In practice, whatever excuse they think they have, this continues to be condoned by the rest of the leadership and those of the ANC who are evidently more concerned with hiding or preserving corrupt channels and conforming to procedures than doing their real duty to their party and their constitutional duty to their country.

Like Fr Jo Mangaliso (Khoza not tied by dogma, July 27), I am proud of Dr Khoza and just hope she is not executed by the corrupting, greedy and evil individuals controlling her party for making her patriotic waves. History is going to judge the ANC harshly enough without adding the life of a brave and righteous woman to its current list of abominations.
