Operational dairy farm up for grabs

-

On September 13, Van’s Auctioneers will offer for auction a working dairy farm near Mooi River with lots of water.

The farm, which measures about 532ha, has 5km river frontage on the Mooi River.

The Department of Water Affairs has registered the use of 700,000m³ of water — the lawfulness still to be determined — and the Big Mooi Irrigation Board has registered the use of 480,000m³.

The farm has a large reservoir that can hold ± 200,000m³.

The farm has three centre pivots that cover about 177ha. It also has arable lands of eragrostis and kukuyu, 120ha of arable land and about 165ha of grazing land.

The farm, which operates as a working dairy farm, has a 30point swing-over milking system with bulk tanks with a capacity of about 26,000 litres. It has bulk tank rooms with tile flooring, as well as office areas with herculite ceilings, ablutions and concrete flooring.

Good-quality improvements include a well-maintained fourbedroom homestead, a manager’s house and cottage, a workshop and fertiliser shed, sheds, pens, staff housing, pump houses and a generator room.

The farm is currently rented out on a month-to-month basis, with an annual rental income of about R960,000, and will be offered as a going concern.
