TFG partnershi­p to bring more brands to SA

TFG has signed a deal with British retail chain JD Sports to have access to brands such as The North Face and exclusive styles in Nike, adidas and Puma.

The owner of Markham, Relay Jeans, Fabiani and Jet will also open 40 JD Sports franchised stores over the next five years, with the first few opening by the end of 2024.

TFG is one of the largest JSElisted sellers of highly popular branded footwear in SA with its Sneaker Factory, Sportscene and Totalsport­s stores.

JD Sports is a sports fashion retailer of branded sports and casual wear, combining globally recognised brands such as Nike, Adidas, Puma and The North Face, with private labels such as Pink Soda and Supply & Demand

The partnershi­p would allow customers exclusive access to the latest styles from some of the world’s largest brands including Nike, Adidas, New Balance, and Under Armour, TFG said.

TFG CEO Anthony Thunström said: “This partnershi­p allows TFG to bring a new compelling internatio­nal sports fashion offering to the SA market. This bolsters our existing sports positionin­g, with our Sportscene, Totalsport­s and Sneaker Factory stores already being the destinatio­ns of choice for athletic and leisure sports apparel.”

JD said the deal marked part of its strategy to grow globally and was “a pivotal move” in the continued expansion into under-penetrated markets.

CEO of JD Sports Fashion Regis Schultz, said: “I am delighted to be working with TFG, one of SA’s most respected retailers, as we continue to bring JD’s distinctiv­e offering to more customers globally.”

The TFG share price closed down 0.16% at R105.
