The actress underwent a preventative procedure a week ago after having tests she undergoes every year. She learnt she has a 50 percent risk of suffering from ovarian cancer when markers showed she could be in the early stages of the disease.

Angelina, whose mother, grandmother and aunt died of cancer, said: “Last week, I had the procedure: a laparoscopic bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. There was a small, benign tumour on one ovary, but no signs of cancer in any of the tissues.”

The operation comes two years after the star underwent a double mastectomy after having discovered she carried a gene which meant she had an 87 percent risk of developing breast cancer and a 50 percent risk of ovarian cancer. – Bang Showbiz
