Beijing-bound squad is named

ATHLETICS SA yesterday named their provisional squad for the world championships from August 22-30 in Beijing.

Only athletes who qualified on performance are included in the team.

Any athlete that may qualify as the African champion must still prove their level of fitness to the selectors, ASA said a statement.

There is still a chance for athletes to qualify and all valid performances up to 31 July will be considered for inclusion in the team.

The final closing date for entries is August 10, but due to time needed for visa applications, performances between August 1 and 10 will only be considered in exceptional circumstances. – ANA
