To fill viewers in, Naledi is Thembeka’s friend from university – although Naledi was a few years her junior. Thembeka knows her potential and drive and wants Naledi as the editor (and her ally) in the newsroom.

On their bond, the actress reveals: “You can expect to see a young, successful woman who is driven and a camaraderie between her and her long-time friend, Thembeka.

“Naledi admires Thembeka and even though they are friends, she considers Thembeka a mentor. They have a great rapport which stems from their varsity days.”

Now soapies play by a different set of rules, especially in how they are shot.

But Moeketsi has fearlessly dived in and is soaking it all up.

She smiles: “It is proving to be almost like a classroom for me. I learn so much day in and day out. There are so many wonderful intricacies about soapies and although this is my first time in the medium, I’m deeply inclined to believe Scandal stands head and shoulders above the rest.”

Reflecting on her strides to date, she shares: “I think having the start that I did in the industry is for me a career highlight. My first acting job was under the directorship of Akin Omotoso and starring alongside the likes of Fana Mokoena, Harriet Manamela, Neo Ntlatleng, Jafta Mamabolo, Vusi Kunene, etc. In the same year, my first presenting gig had me travel to Los Angeles and interview superstars like Nicki Minaj, Bruno Mars, Trey Songz, Miguel, Kendrick Lamar and the likes. A highlight that stands tall in my mind is shooting on the red carpet at the 2012 Grammy Awards.”

As for her guilty pleasure when it comes to TV, she admits: “I love Umlilo and its cast. I’m always on the edge of my seat and screaming at my TV when Khwezi’s devious schemes come together.”

She is clear about what ticks her boxes in her career: “At this point, it is projects that represent growth and fulfil my passions.”
