Moeketsi brings her girl power to the newsroom…
In TV years, Dineo Moeketsi is still the new kid on the block. But her achievements are a far cry from that of a novice. Now she is making her mark in Scandal, writes Debashine Thangevelo
SOUTH Africa is flooded with fresh, young blood. And Dineo Moeketsi definitely belongs in the stable of those rising stars. She made an indelible impression with the youth when she took over as host from Nonhle (Sit down… and boom) Thema on Channel O’s O-Access in 2011.
But this vivacious personality had spread her tentacles in the acting world before that – she was in Soul City and City Ses’la. After all, she can’t let her credentials from the National School of Arts and New York’s New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music go to waste.
And she has an enviable list of credits on her resume with My Perfect Family, My Perfect Proposal, Soul City, Room 9, The Channel O Africa Music Video Awards and, of course, V-Entertainment. That she is fluent in English, Zulu, Tswana, Sotho and Xhosa, raises her worth, too.
Her confidence, sense of style and smarts lend themself well to her role as Naledi on Scandal.
Shedding light on how she bagged the part, she offers: “It came about through a few opportunities I got to showcase myself as an actor for the Scandal team.”
Of course, when you have the talent, an opportunity is all that is needed in this industry.

Having established footprints as a presenter and actor, Moeketsi was asked which medium makes her focus more.
“Right now, I can confidently say I’m incredibly passionate about acting and I’m thoroughly enjoying being in the space of it.”
