Show Mbalula a red card for new rules

- RICHARD HARRY VAN GRAAN Vanguard Estate

THE REVOCATION of certain sporting codes not to take place internationally on South African soil by Minister Mbalula is a mistake.

Why does he apply draconian rules after 20 years of our democracy?

He speaks of “transformation”, which I presume he does not understands as he uses it as “Black Africanism”.

He targets athletics, rugby, netball, cricket. He does not relate to the international community which will again expose our beautiful country to economic development, to improve the various codes of sports.

Sports does not revolve around one race group, but appeals to all races.

Some races excel in long distance running, for example Kenya and Ethiopia; New Zealand in rugby, the Eastern block countries in gymnastics, the USA in swimming and athletics. Does Mbalula know why? Our government should transform by making resources available and even monitor it against corruption.

Knowledgeable and competent individuals should be appointed, not because of their colour or their allegiance to the ANC.

I suppose Mbalula has targeted these sporting codes as the members of the teams are predominantly white.

He has forgotten that there are white, coloured and Indian South Africans.

Why play the man, or should I say ‘the racecard’?

Employ the best people for the national teams and administrative bodies, irrespective of colour, creed or political affiliation.

He should be shown a red card .
