Local government overlooks poor

-

WITH regards to the latest evidence that the provincial government has no regard for the lives of Cape Flats residents, the only thing that surprises me is the fact people seem surprised at all.

In response to the question as to when the replacement hospital (for GF Jooste) will be built, the answer is never.

It’s not in the provincial government’s interest, it does not suit its agenda to keep the indigenous population subjugated in an under-educated, drug-induced haze, forever grateful to their “masters” for whichever scraps happen to fall off the dinner table.

This type of behaviour is typical of this administration in its annual closure of Cape Flats schools – schools that are the only hope our children have of escaping this miserable existence.

In its reluctance to deploy the full might of its metro police on the Cape Flats (something that might aid its stability) the city has proven again and again that beach patrols and issuing fines for minor transgressions in affluent areas are more important than saving coloured youth.

In the closure of something as essential as a hospital, the regular closing of our children’s places of learning, the provincial administration has proven it does not service your needs, it caters to your address – for this type of action is unthinkable in suburbia.

Only the DA can still endorse national demographics (even though a court has ruled against it) to capture the black vote at the expense of coloured lives. The only promise the DA can make to the coloured majority is to keep the ANC out, not that it has made the slightest difference in the lives of the province’s majority population.

Wehave a world-class city centre for Helen Zille and Patricia de Lille to be proud of. Pity about the other bits. FADIEL ADAMS Cape Coloured Civic Movement
