Collusive firm bags City contract

-

Finally! Long overdue! Investigate the City of Cape Town’s supply chain management (system). The City of Cape Town never wants to take responsibility for their mistakes. Instead they blame the National Treasury. Johan van der Merwe, don’t blame the ANC for the DA mistakes. How is the National Treasury in Pretoria supposed to know this information if feedback is not given to them from the Western Cape Treasury? Surely, Mr Van der Merwe, you also rely on ground staff to keep you updated? I think it is time you review your legal advisers, as it is clear collusion is foreign to you. Well let us explain it to you. On May 1 last year a law was signed in making collusion a criminal offence. A conviction can get you 10 years in prison. Accept ownership of this gross misconduct act from the City of Cape Town. Just thinking out loud, and wondering who is on the kickback of this gravy train? Gasant Omar, Woodstock. These companies that collude and are eventually found guilty in a court of law should be blacklisted with immediate effect. In the case of Top N Nos, I’m sure there are smaller, honest players out there who also submit tenders but are never considered. Perhaps the investigation should be focused on the officials behind the awarding of these tenders and their corrupt relationships. It might be a case of you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours. NC Oakes, Grassy Park. Richard Benson, the best Australian road safety advertisements are not going to prevent the carnage on our roads. Australian people are extremely law-abiding and adhere to all the rules, whereas South Africans are a law unto themselves and disregard any form of law or rule. Why don’t you just go there and see for yourself? They don’t behave like South Africans do – disregarding any rules. Advertisements can’t change attitude. J Tyndall, Edgemead. People are living in a fool’s paradise. The atrocities that Israel commits in Palestine will fill any human being with revulsion. Faried Vallie, Belhar. Slaan my dood! I was just saying how we all felt for the parents and their little baby who was “kidnapped” when lo and behold the mother of the child has been arrested for being complicit in the crime. What, if anything, possessed her do something so cruel, thoughtless and just plain dumb? JE Hendrikse, Kraaifontein. Better to have the cycle race in April. Less wind. Less heat. Less fire danger. Richard Benson, Cape Town. What objection can you give if you have admitted guilt? They were classified as a cartel. Investigate the health department as well, as this family business seems to be very fortunate in the awarding of most state hospital tenders. This family has been awarded multi-million contracts over the past 10 years. Sharon Smith, Manenberg. This has been going on for years. The City of Cape Town has always been very generous in awarding work to this family cartel. Come, let’s challenge the city to give us a list of all the millions of rands worth of contracts/ tenders over the past five years and the present contracts worth millions. The city is not interested in small business development. T Joseph, Cape Town.
