Pyongyang show of force ‘fails’

SEOUL: South Korea’s defence ministry has said that North Korea’s test-firing of a missile was a failure.

A South Korean defence ministry official said that North Korea fired a missile near the Wonsan airfield on its eastern coast. According to local media reports, the missile exploded in the air just after blasting off from the ground. The test-firing was an apparent show of force in response to ongoing US-South Korea military exercises.
