I support Zille – colonialism did help blacks

- TERENCE GRANT Cape Town

I WRITE in response to calls for the resignation of Helen Zille.

In my opinion, Helen Zille erred heavily on the side of caution when she stated that not everything about colonialism was negative.

Blacks were probably several thousand years away from inventing a light bulb, laptop or cellphone, when whites arrived and taught them how to read, write and count. Simply put, colonialism gave blacks the foundation on which they now stand. Unfortunately, whites seem to have done a much better job of teaching them how to throw their toys out of the cot.
