The Anti-Corruption Task Team (ACTT) obtained a restraint order late last month from the Pietermaritzburg High Court. The order stipulated that assets of R543 328 926 must be seized. This included houses, farms, cars and other property from Majola and the Govenders, as well as their closed corporations.
The criminal matter against the trio is set for June. “Upon conviction, the unit will apply for a confiscation order to the value of R543 328 926,” the ACTT said. WILLOWVALE police are investigating a case of arson after an elderly woman died in a suspected arson attack, Eastern Cape police said yesterday.
It was alleged that 70-year-old Nonarethi Maseti was found burnt to death at about 9am on Friday at her home in Nkanku location. She was found by her grandson who had come to visit her, Captain Jackson Manatha said.
