Any form of Roman Keycard Blackwood is wonderful … if you can use it confidently! Without trump agreement, or when the suit choice is clouded it’s sometimes difficult to untangle the auction. That leads to guessing. You could be too high, or too low, depending on your guess. Here West asked for aces, with what he thought was diamonds agreed, but East though it to be hearts and answered accordingly. West, however, worked it out and as the match was tight, hoped one of the two “aces” was the ♣A. Ouch … 17imps away. Rule: The first player to bid a suit twice, commands the Keycard ask – East was correct here – you shouldn’t go wrong then.
