Man beaten for rape of boy aged 10

POLICE in Masiphumelele near Kommetjie are investigating the rape of a 10-year-old boy, allegedly by a man who lives three houses away.

The mother of the boy said she started to see changes in the behaviour of her son since last year.

“I thought maybe he was with wrong friends as he would come back home very late and would not answer me when I asked where he was. The man would bring him home, and I assumed maybe he would ask him to accompany him because he was scared I would beat him as he came home late,” said the mother.

She said her son did not return home on Monday. When residents found him two days later, he said the man had kept him and had been raping him since last year.

Enraged community members beat the man. Police rescued him and a case of sexual assault has been opened. – Staff Reporter
