Nine Congolese sanctioned

-

BRUSSELS: The EU is poised to impose sanctions against more Democratic Republic of Congo officials, sources said, amid worsening violence since President Joseph Kabila pushed back elections.

One source said the EU would add nine names to its blacklist of people subjected to asset freezes and travel bans citing “serious violations of human rights”.

They join seven others, including members of the Congolese army and police.
