Delays and bribes at OR Tambo

-

Acsa responded as follows: “Airports Company South Africa sincerely regrets the manner in which this passenger was treated.

“He did the right thing by reporting the matter to the SAPS for further investigation.

“However, in spite of numerous attempts to communicate with Mr Jada, we have failed to secure his assistance in terms of a sworn statement and witness testimony that could be used in proceedings against the individuals concerned, one of whom is employed by Airports Company South Africa.

“Further, when this matter was brought to our attention, a critical passage of time had already passed since the incident in mid-December last year. We were at risk of being unable to deal with the employee in question because complaints about conduct have to be brought and handled within a specific time.

“We were therefore compelled to proceed with a disciplinary inquiry against the Airports Company employee involved without being able to bring Mr Jada as a witness in the proceedings.

“The passenger has to date not sent a formal claim and supporting documentation to Airports Company South Africa for the approximate amount mentioned in his earlier e-mail.”

Georgie: Jada has been asked to submit his claim, which will be forwarded to their legal department, which will then submit it to a claims negotiator.
