Stacha murder suspect gives up bail

- – Staff Reporter

STACHA Arendse’s alleged killer Randy Tango has opted to abandon his bail application.

Tango appeared in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court yesterday where he opted to remain in jail.

Chairperson of the Mitchells Plain Crisis Forum, Joanie Fredricks, said they were elated: “The wheels of justice turn slowly and sometimes we get frustrated and upset about it.

“We get impatient and feel like justice is taking its own time and sometimes it does. And then we get a sweet little titbit when a monster in the form or Randy Tango realises that perhaps it’s better to remain inside where he belongs than outside.”

Tango will be back in court again on July 14.

He was released on parole in October while he was doing time for car theft.

Tango was arrested shortly after the 11-year-old girl’s body was found behind the Swartklip Centre in Tafelsig, Mitchells Plain.

Stacha’s murder came a week after the discovery of 13-year-old Rene Tracy Roman’s body metres away from where she lived in Lavender Hill.

Rene had been missing for a week when her decomposed body was found near her home in St Agatha Street. She was found with her hands and feet tied and was half naked.

Andrew Plaatjies, 50, was arrested in connection with her murder.
