Every life is important – Dawn

-

THE DA’s Women’s Network (Dawn) protested outside Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s Court at the appearance of the 42-year-old man who was charged with the rape and murder of motherof-two Unathi Madotyeni, 33, in Langa last month.

Sumaya Taliep, from Dawn, said: “Violence against women has been declared a priority crime. As a community we must forge a united front with law enforcement agencies, government and all sectors of society in fighting this scourge.

“Every life is important and should be protected. We all deserve to live in a safe and secure environment. We have the highest levels of violence which includes child killings, femicide and rampant gender-based violence such as rape.

“We need to look at the safety of our women and children.” – Staff Reporter
