Miss SA’s birthday gift is ‘unBreakable’

-

MISS South Africa, Demi-Leigh NelPeters, celebrates her 22nd birthday tomorrow and wants to use the event to focus on women’s issues.

“I hope to hand over my crown next year knowing I did everything in my capability to inspire women to believe in themselves and to value themselves,” she said.

Inspired by the trauma of going through an attempted hijacking earlier this month, Nel-Peters has launched a campaign, called unBreakable, which aims to empower and uplift women.

In addition her campaign will provide women with resources and information stating where they can get help, should they find themselves in a crisis.

Since the attempted hijacking, NelPeters has spent little time recovering, due to her intensive schedule. However, she did spend time in the comfort of her family and friends.

“Since it happened I have been for counselling which has really helped me work through the ordeal.

“I have also had amazing support from family, friends, and people I don’t even know,” she said.

Although she does not often have free time, Demi plans to take some time to herself.

“On my actual birthday it will be work as usual, although I am going to take some time out for ‘me time’.”
