Gratitude to city’s water and sanitation

- BILLY WATSON Table View

IT IS time to give credit, for a change, to our council’s water and sanitation asset management department.

Over the past four years, the CCC (customer care centre) has embarked on programmes designed to determine the present condition of the ageing and failing mechanical and electrical machinery at our major water and waste (sewerage) treatment plants, most of which have been in use without any regular form of maintenance for over 30 years,

This programme has resulted in the timeous replacement, repair and refurbishing of the plant and equipment, which would otherwise have had further disastrous effects of pollution and/ incapacity of the various treatment plants around the peninsula.

Though much has still to be achieved, it is heartening to already see the results and improvements. Well done!
