Posters to say NO to drugs

-

I SEE there is a call to be aware of drug abuse and with that we have to include drug addiction. With this in mind, we have to in layman terms, define this medicinal or substance abuse.

It is a dependence of a person – never mind the age, race, gender, status or religious beliefs – on a legal or illegal drug or medication, which is a chronic disease which alters the normal behaviour of a normal person and it is self inflicted.

Many people in using this term “drug or substance abuse” do not realise that normal alcohol, smoking, cough medicine or pain pills are also a cause of a drug addiction as they are abusing it to get that fix they believe they need to survive in society.

The truth is there are dire consequences for the person addicted drugs.

We all know we have a plague, more deadly than the black plague of old that wiped out thousands.

The drug abuse plague we have flooding our communities, is more deadly and more contagious. We must try to make our fellow human beings aware of the results of drug and substance abuse or addiction.

Our police stations, hospitals, doctors rooms, pharmacies and schools do not have posters warning all who visit, of the mental and physical dangers of drug and substance abuse.

These are the places that have to come on board, with posters showing pictures that speak to those who see and read them.

How can we call on the public to become part of the drug awareness campaign if we do not do it properly and call on institutions, whether private or public, to be a part of it?

We need posters with hard-hitting medical facts that inform them that drugs kill and destroy the body, soul and mind, and break relationships with family, friends and society.

Put up those posters as soon as possible and show you care.

Point out the effects of drug and substance abuse but also tell of the possible cures and that the solution is to be found within the willpower of the drug addict.
