The City of Cape Town’s mayoral committee member for area north, Suzette Little, said that the handover of title deeds formed part of “our efforts to build an inclusive city and promote property ownership for residents who for many years were not able to own property”.

“Over the past six years, the City has handed over thousands of title deeds to residents to ensure that they are confirmed as rightful owners,” she said.

“The transfer of ownership and handing over of title deeds is in line with the City’s commitment to redressing the imbalances of the apartheid past where people where denied ownership of property.”
