Court acquits former minister

LUSAKA: A Zambian court has acquitted a former minister and four others on charges of stealing materials related to last year’s disputed elections. Obvious Mwaliteta, a former provincial minister who resigned and joined the main opposition United Party for National Development before the poll, and his co-accused were discharged after the judge ruled that no weapons or materials had been found on them to prove they had committed the offence.
