Clarity on land claim issues
IT IS a pity there is not more clarity on the land claim issues.
On the one hand you hear accusations about stolen land, and on the other hand belief that reckless land distribution will seriously affect the food security of now more than 50 million people.
Nothing could be worse for good race relations.
If it could be confirmed that the land in question is only farmland and that the beneficiaries would have to meet a strict level of competency when it comes to a claim on a presently thriving commercial farm, it would go a long way towards giving everyone a greater understanding of the situation.
It is worrying the EFF wants to nationalise the banks in tandem with land distribution, indicating that the beneficiaries they have in mind would be unable to get credit, an essential requirement for farmers in lean times.
