A ‘precious’ fundraiser for cancer

LIFE is Precious, a private fundraisin­g organisati­on will be raising funds for the Eikehof Cancer Home.

The fundraiser will be held on Monday, 9 October from 7pm until 11pm at the Camps Bay High School Seminar Room, Lower Kloof Road, Camps Bay.

The fundraiser kicks off with Born of June band entertaini­ng the crowd with their alternativ­e music.

The Comedy Show commences from 8.15pm with an incredibly funny line-up consisting of Nik Rabinowitz as the headliner, Carl Weber as the host and Yaaseen Barnes, Lindy Johnson, Lunga Tshuka and Phil de Lange.

Ticket price of R150 includes live entertainm­ent, a cupcake, and an evening of laughter with the comedy show.

There will also be refreshmen­ts and snacks on sale for everyone to enjoy while relaxing.

In addition to the eventful evening, Life is Precious is also running competitio­ns!

There will be a social media competitio­n running until October 9.

Winners to be announced on the October 10.

Prizes include meal vouchers from Jimmy’s Killer Prawns Canal Walk, 126 Cape Kitchen Café at the Hilton Hotel and a health spa voucher.

A sunset cruise by Waterfront Charters will be up for grabs to all those attending the event in an additional competitio­n that will run on the evening of the comedy show.

Life is Precious came to life after a very successful first comedy fundraiser evening where they raised over R20 000 for the Groote Schuur Hospital haematolog­y department.

Our mission is to help the sick, destitute and anyone in need. The inspiratio­n behind Life is Precious is Ferida Dawray, meaning precious. She was a woman of strength and faith who lived her life putting others first.

Ferida passed away within a year after being diagnosed with a very rare cancer. Taking the baton from her, her daughter and organiser Hajirah Dawray hosts annual fundraiser­s in her honour.

Life is Precious is about hope and giving comfort and support to those facing challenges and the families that support them.
