Sundowners to watch sun dip

- Lance Witten

PERCHED atop the majestic Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa on Victoria Road, the Leopard Bar boasts some of the best views for sundowners anywhere in the city.

With the sun setting low over the Atlantic, casting orange streaks of light over the sea, and a cool breeze drifting off the breakers, there’s no better setting to sip some of their incredible cocktails.

The menu, while on the pricey side, is exquisite with something for every palate. Nothing on the small but eclectic menu will disappoint.

But back to the cocktails – think local flavours, craft beers brewed in Cape Town’s backyard, the finest bubbly and spirits, expertly blended with care.

Their signature cocktails are exquisite and you won’t go wrong by ordering classic favourites either.

Normally, bars and lounges don’t really cater to non-drinkers, but here is where the Leopard Bar is different. The mocktails are out of this world – definitely not an afterthought.

Try their Steelworks – it’s probably the best in Cape Town.

From the moment you walk in, you’ll feel at home, despite being surrounded by opulent, old-world luxury. You’d be forgiven for wanting to kick off your shoes and sink into the ample, comfortable couches.

Oh! And did I mention there are complimentary snacks at every table? Corn nibs, spiced nuts, olives and a little mezze platter greet you as you sit down.

It’s a pleasant atmosphere, and one you won’t want to leave.
