THE first artists for the 19th Cape Town Internatio­nal Jazz Festival on March 2324 at the Cape Town Internatio­nal Convention Centre have been announced: Dr Duda, JSomething and Mo-T. Corinne Bailey Rae (UK) Mulatu Astatke (Ethiopia) Vijay Iyer Sextet (US) Seu Jorge presents the Life Aquatic/ A Tribute to David Bowie (Brazil) Jordan Rakei (NZ) Blinky Bill and Sibot’s Afrofunk Spaceship (SA/Kenya) Trombone Shorty (US) The Louiz Banks Quartet (India) Miles Mosley (US) Nicholas Payton: Afro-Caribbean Mixtape (US) Nduduzo Makhathini (SA) R+R=NOW (US) Mayor Patricia De Lille said: “For nearly two decades, the city has been a proud host of the festival which brings the world’s very best in jazz and other popular music genres to our shores. We are grateful for the efforts of organisers of the spectacula­r jazz festival, which never fails to impress with a stellar and dynamic line up each year.

“The festival brings people from all over the city and the country together in their love for music and in doing so, this event strengthen­s our work of building an inclusive city. We look forward to celebratin­g music and people at what is sure to be an amazing 2018 instalment.”
