Claims about Israel are outrageous

- RODNEY MAZINTER Camps Bay

I WILL not descend into arguing the wild conspiracy theories that make up most of Keneth Lukudo and Nargus Motala’s anti-Semitic article in the Cape Argus of November 28 (“World is numb as daily suffering continues”), but one cannot help wondering where they get such rubbish, and even more so, why a respected newspaper would give it such unwarranted prominence.

It is sufficient to point out that their contentions are not borne out by the facts. As propagandists who have quite patently never been to Israel the one question begging to be asked is why are they not involved in ongoing conflicts elsewhere in the world – far bloodier, with many more victims – in Asia, Africa, South America and even Europe.

How can a tiny state, having miraculously survived numerous wars of aggression to say nothing of the still ongoing terrorism, be such a “sore” and such a “threat” to the “Palestinians” – and why should Lukuko and Motala accept, and the Argus publish, such an outrageous claim? Israel has never, except in self-defence, attacked a neighbouring state. And yet here we have racists, bent on genocide, calling their intended target “racists”.

If a finger can with justification be pointed at Israel it is that this tiny country continuously saves thousands of lives, especially children from the Arab communities in countries surrounding it.

Employing cutting-edge technology and an unshakable belief in the sanctity of life and its preservation, Israel’s scientists and doctors bring comfort to people throughout the region and the world over.

In contrast to the efforts of tiny Israel to make contributions to the world so as to better mankind, one has to ask what have those who strive to vilify and eliminate Israel from the face of the earth do other than create hatred and bloodshed.
