Rapunzel in new ‘Tangled’ adventure

- ALYSSIA BIRJALAL

KIDS can join the freespirited and fiercely independent Rapunzel as she explores outside the castle walls and documents her lively adventures in her journal in the new series, Tangled. This animated adventure series stars Mandy Moore as Rapunzel and Zachary Levi as Eugene, her life partner.

The series kicks off with Disney Channel’s original movie Tangled Before Ever After, which follows Rapunzel as she struggles with both the new responsibilities of being princess and the overprotective ways of her father.

Rapunzel loves Eugene, but does not share his immediate desire to get married and settle down.

Determined to live life on her own terms, she and Cassandra, a tough-asnails lady-in-waiting, embark on a secret adventure where they encounter mystical rocks that magically cause Rapunzel’s long blonde hair to grow back. Impossible to break and difficult to hide, Rapunzel must learn to embrace her hair.

“The movie and series pick up where the film left off, but takes place before the short,

Tangled Ever After. If you were a fan of the film, the humour, and character development – you’ll love it,” said Moore.

“The series gives audiences an assurance that we have plenty of time to let these characters breathe, get to know them, and most of all have fun,” she said.

Moore said the best part of working on

Tangled was that she could be part of a legacy of films: “I think it’s every little girl’s dream to be part of the Disney legacy of films.

“To have brought a character to life in one of their animated films is a huge honour.”

Asked if she and her character have anything in common, Moore responded, “Oh gosh, I can only hope! She is incredibly brave and precocious, and has a sort of fierce spirit that I hope I have in me.

“I’m proud to be the person that gets to bring her to life.”
