Holiday best at the seaside

I loved the sound of the sea and the views were magnificent, writes Clinton Moodley

PUMULA Beach Hotel is a seaside hotel on the South Coast, KwaZulu-Natal. It has a rustic feel to it and is not too bad on the pocket. Of course, it’s most popular for being a stone’s throw away from the beach. The pool. Nothing says a beach hotel more than a pool, and the one here is clean and most inviting.

Located close to the beach, the pool attracts many hotel guests.

Another favourite feature for me, are the wooden arrow signs which point to the beach, pool and food. The eyesore chalkboard in the foyer that provides details of the daily activities children can participate in.

It distracts from the beauty of the establishment. Ideal for those wanting a quality hotel, without the huge price tag.

The room boasts blue, white and sea themed décor and is perfectly comfortable for an overnight stay

The bed was comfortable and I loved dozing off to the sound of the ocean. The shower was modern. A fan of the toiletries, I was not, though. I didn’t enjoy the packed breakfast made for us.

The cheese and tomato sandwich was stale and I didn’t like the juice. Hot meals – like a toasted sarmie – would be more welcome. You are planning a big family getaway. And the view is a wonderful bonus amid the bonding. Go to the beach at sunrise. Venture out on to the beach if you have had a few alcoholic beverages.
