INDEPENDENT

-

Media wants you to get the best out of our newspaper titles, and as such, we have partnered with Augmenta to launch a comprehensive editorial and advertorial augmented reality (AR+) reading experience.

You will now be able to access video and other digital content via your smartphone while reading the newspaper. Augmenta AR+ technology in the IOL app allows you to view digital content simply by utilising the IOL apps camera feature on a picture or article which features an AR+ prompt. If a picture has an AR+ prompt, you’ll know there is additional content that you can access.

“Independent Media is fast becoming one the world’s most innovative and agile media groups. Such a partnership contributes towards Augmenting Africa’s reality.”, Rich Cheary (CEO Afrozaar)

Viewing the content is a simple 4 step process...

First, you need to download the IOL app in your app store - it’s available for both iOS and Android.

Once you’ve done that, whenever you see an AR+ prompt on a picture or article in the paper, open your IOL app, tap the camera button, tap “SCAN” and aim your camera at the picture.

You will now be able to see the page come to life with video content and you can then access other additional digital content right there and then.

Refer to our handy guide and try it out where you see the AR+ logo on our pictures.
