Pastor case whistle-blower shot at in PE
JUSTICE Minister Michael Masutha said yesterday that he was in talks with the UAE ambassador to South Africa to work on the fast-tracking of formalising bilateral agreements on extradition and mutual legal assistance.
Briefing journalists ahead of delivering the budget vote of the office of the chief justice, Masutha was quizzed on what steps he was taking to ensure that Ajay Gupta stood trial in South Africa. A WHISTLE-BLOWER in the case against a Nigerian pastor charged with human trafficking and the rape of young girls was allegedly threatened and shot at in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday.
The whistle-blower, whose name is known to the African News Agency, has been to almost every court appearance of the pastor.
Yesterday, she said she could not sleep and was still in shock following the incident the previous night.
She was attacked by a masked gunman who jumped a fence at her KwaZakhele home. The gunman demanded that she withdraw the case against the accused pastor, and fired two shots at her. – African News Agency (ANA)
