PAC: kings land custodians

- KENNETH MOKGATLHE PAC National Spokesperson

PAN AFRICANIST Congress of Azania (PAC) stands against any form of abuse or discriminatory conduct against our traditional leaders.

They deserve respect from institutions of government and there should be co-existence.

Government should be able to tolerate our cultural/traditional institutions.

The PAC understands the atrocities that our traditional leaders suffered under the entire colonial system to date. It should be remembered that before we politicised the issue of stolen land, it was the chiefs and kings who were fighting for the return of our stolen land.

The PAC took over the fight for the return of land from King Bambatha after what history dubs the Bambatha Rebellion, we are the first to arm the Struggle in a more political route.

Kings, queens, chiefs and all traditional leaders have always been the bedrock of our Struggle, we cannot abdicate them now because we are seeing signs of victory.

The PAC has always believed that once we attained political freedom, the first thing was to restore dignity to our ladies. Our traditional leaders should not be second-guessing their relevance and role in modern day society. They are the gallant fighters, leaders of the society.

It is incorrect that traditional leaders should not be the custodians and guardians of the land.

They have been tasked with being the custodians of our land since we can remember. Why should that change now?
