Live music at Aquarium

-

THERE’S a new, unconventional live music venue in town this winter.

The Two Oceans Aquarium and Texx and the City have teamed up for After Dark, a series of stripped-down music events featuring some of South Africa’s best bands. Southern Wild, Grassy Spark, AKING, Bam Bam Brown, Majozi and Gemma Griffiths will be performing in one of Cape Town’s best-loved attractions.

In June, July and August, the area in front of the I&J Ocean Exhibit will be transformed into a cozy, living room-style setting where you’ll be able to enjoy acoustic local music. Tecla Ciolfi, doyenne of the local music scene and founder of entertainment website Texx and the City, curated the artists who will be gracing the stage.

Ciolfi said: “The Two Oceans Aquarium is without a doubt my favourite place in Cape Town and I’ve never been more excited about any other event I’ve ever hosted. Texx and the City also turns 10 this year, so I’m using After Dark as the perfect excuse to have three birthday parties that feature some of my favourite SA bands.”

Doors open at 7pm. Music starts promptly at 8pm and tickets are limited to 180 per event.

Wednesday, June 25: Grassy Spark and Southern Wild.

Wednesday, July 25: AKING and Bam Bam Brown.

Wednesday, August 25: Majozi and Gemma Griffiths.
