Solar energy firm up for award
A SOUTH African company, SOLA Future Energy, responsible for installing Robben Island’s solarpower system has been selected as a finalist in the Vision of 2030 awards.
The Vision awards recognise organisations, enterprises and individuals that are aligned with the government’s Nine-Point Plan to boost economic growth and the National Development Plan (NDP).
The awards reinforce both the public and private sector’s commitment to what is essentially a blueprint for the nation.
SOLA Future Energy got the tender from the Department of Tourism to install a solar-powered mini-grid plant on Robben Island that would save the department about R5 million annually.
