Strike looms large over Eskom offer
THE National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) and National Union of Metalworkers of SA (Numsa) yesterday officially rejected Eskom’s zero percent wage offer. The stateowned power utility cannot plead poverty, they said, because it was “dealing with a self-imposed crisis”.
Last week, wage negotiations collapsed after unions walked out, saying Eskom was negotiating in bad faith. The unions demand a 15% wage increase across the board and a R2 000 housing allowance.
“We’ll exhaust all options before going on strike,” they said. – African News Agency (ANA)
