2 000 Mfuleni residents given a warm meal

-

ABOUT 2 000 Mfuleni residents were offered soup as part of a collaboration between Love to Langa – a US-based charity focused on children in the Cape Town’s townships – and members of Sanhaji, a tourism and lifestyle website.

The initiative was driven by the need to do something positive for the community.

“As a new online business, we feel it’s important to put our best foot forward by empowering those who are historically disadvantaged and thus, setting a positive example to the tourism sector,” said owner and founder of www.sanhaji.global, Chelsea Lotz.

The event, hosted at Mfuleni ECD Centre, drew crowds of hungry locals.

Sandra Lucas, ECD Centre principal, was “overjoyed” to have the school host the event. She felt it was important in helping to bring the community together.

Love to Langa board member Kissmea Adams said her organisation was established by Jon and Amy Ostroff as the “charity that could”.

“As a board member in South Africa, it is a privilege to work side by side with donors and partners to assist where we can,” Adams said.
