Woman disappears with friend’s baby

GUGULETHU police are searching for Sinovuyo Nodali, 32, who disappeare­d with her friend’s 2-month-old baby girl in Kiki Hostels in Gugulethu yesterday.

The mother of the child left her two children, the baby and an 8-year-old girl, with Nodali while she went to do shopping yesterday morning. When she came back a few hours later she found the 8-year-old girl in the house but the 2-month-old baby and suspect were nowhere to be found.

“Enquiries were made with the suspect’s boyfriend who indicated that Sinovuyo came to the house and collected all her clothing and left. The boyfriend mentioned that a day before the incident

“Sinovuyo requested money from him and he gave her the money. Sinovuyo Nodali is from Tsolo in the Eastern Cape. There is also a belief she might go to Johannesbu­rg,” police said.

* Members of the flying squad responded to an armed robbery and hijacking in the Athlone area over the weekend. Police said that on arrival in Carnie Street, Rylands, they were joined by other police and were stopped by members of the public, Neighbourh­ood Watch members and other witnesses who had seen the suspects.

Four men in a red Ford Focus had approached the complainan­t and robbed him of his pistol and white Isuzu LDV.

The suspects fled with two vehicles and were involved in an accident with the Red Ford Focus, which was later discovered to have false registrati­on plates.

It was discovered that the car had been reported hijacked at Kleinvlei last month.

“The two suspects, aged 36 and 39, were apprehende­d in Carnie Road, Rylands, where the complainan­t’s firearm, a Glock 40 pistol with 13 live rounds, was also found. Another suspect was seen fleeing towards the cemetery in Johnson Road where another firearm, a 38 special revolver with six live rounds, was found hidden in one of the graves.

“The complainan­t’s vehicle was later found abandoned in Langa. An undisclose­d amount of money was also robbed from the complainan­t.

* Cape Town police detectives are seeking the assistance of the public in finding suspects sought for theft at a hotel in town.

According to informatio­n, a guest booked himself into a hotel in Cape Town. While busy with the receptioni­st he left his laptop bag on the floor and later noticed it was missing.

Video footage at the hotel was viewed and two unknown women and a man are seen entering the hotel pretending to be guests, and leaving the hotel with the bag.
