BIDVEST Wits were arguably the most impressive team on the opening day of the new season, the Clever Boys hammering Free State Stars 3-0. It is thus not surprising that members of Gavin Hunt’s team will dominate. Their skipper Thulani Hlatshwayo was his usual solid self and even found himself up in the box to open the scoring for Wits. While Tyson played at rightback, we have him in the heart of our defence alongside Nkanyiso Mngwengwe who was uncompromising for Arrows who won the KZN derby against Maritzburg. Other Wits players in the team are Sifiso Hlanthi at leftback as well as Mxolisi Macuphu up front. Chiefs’ Ramahlwe Mphahlele got the nod for his efforts in Amakhosi’s entertaining 1-1 draw with Sundowns, the rightback having scored the season’s opener and having had an overall solid defensive showing.

There were also impressive performances from Tebogo Potsane as Celtic got the better of Chippa United; Roland Putsche who starred for Cape Town City in their 2-0 win over SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates’ Vincent Pule.

Will they keep up their good show in the next matches?
